A Faithful Witness - Week Fifteen

The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine ... for the battle is the LORD’S and He will give you (Goliath) into our hands ... 1 Samuel 17:37,47c

David was 1st of all a believer in Yahweh. His amazing faith in God began in the fields of Bethlehem as a young boy. The Spirit of God would come upon him when the prophet Samuel anointed him as future king of Israel. Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon David from that day forward. (1 Samuel 16:13) David had a heart after God. (Acts 13:22b)

Consider David, his faithful witness of faith in God, his courage to believe God completely and his repentant heart (Psalm 51) and you see how God used his life to lead a nation and point to a Savior. You do not delight in sacrifices, otherwise I would give it; You are not please with burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God You will not despise. Psalm 51:16,17. May the Lord give each of us this heart to be His faithful witness today and every always!
