During the 6th - 14th centuries, the Church was held captive by many different men of power and authority.
The following are two young men who were faithful to Christ and were martyred for their faith in Christ alone.

King Edmund (AD 869)
He said that his faith was dearer to him than life and he would never redeem his own life and offend God.
He would not renounce Christ, and was a godly English king.
The Danish warrior, Hinquar, killed him for his faith with arrows and an axe.
Edmund was in his mid 20's when he died.

Pelagius (AD 925)
As a young boy in Spain, he was martyred by the Muslim emir.
The emir offered Pelagius money, fine clothes, horses, and honors if he would do one thing: renounce his Christian faith and accept Mohammed as his prophet.
Instead, Pelagius (age 13) confessed his Christian faith and told the emir he was ready to die for it.
After great torture, he died holding steadfast to his faith.
