Women In Discipleship
Weekly Devotional – 2010
The Red Thread Series

A wonderful “Red Thread” of salvation runs throughout the Bible, and each week we are looking at a different book of the Bible to see that Thread that leads to Jesus and God's perfect plan for redeeming mankind to Himself.

NOVEMBER - WEEK TWO

Book of the Bible:  Ephesians
Theme of the Book:  This Book reveals the Mystery of the Church - the Body of Christ;
Believers in Jesus are all equal as His children;
In addition, an inheritance is ours = all the unsearchable riches in Christ through His Grace.
Main Character(s):  Paul, Tychicus, Believers in Ephesus
The “Red Thread”:  Christ Jesus, as the Head of the Church, unites believers together.

Key Verses:  Ephesians 1:7 and 9a, 22-23; 2:8-10; and 6:10-11
In Him (Jesus) we have redemption through His blood,
the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.
He made known to us the mystery of His will…
And He put all things in subjection under His feet,
and gave Him as head over all things to the church which is His body,
the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves,
it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
Put on the full armor of God,
that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

APPLICATION:
As a Believer in Christ, our Commander and Chief is Jesus.
  • How do I respond to His commands?
I can be strong because His strength is my armor…Am I standing firm in Him today?
