TO BEAR HIS NAME -
Weekly Insights into the
Names of God
(Taken from the To Bear HIs Name Study by Sandra J. Mikler Davis)

ELOHIM

The God of Israel is the God who lives in the house of the LORD.
He is also in control of all things.
His desire is for His people to know Him by name and desire Him above all else.
His everlasting covenant is with those who will desire Him with a whole heart!

Then the word of the LORD (Jehovah) came to Jeremiah, saying,
'Behold, I am the LORD (Jehovah), the God (Elohim) of all flesh,
is anything too difficult for Me?'  Jeremiah 32:26,27

From the Book of Ecclesiastics, we see Solomon get to the main point of living.
In his conclusion, he states that the fear of God is essential in the life of a God-follower.
He also states that following the laws of God is critical in our testimony.
Solomon was a wise man and had a desire to write truth correctly (12:10).
He also knew that God (Elohim) would expose everything which is hidden, whether good or bad!

The conclusion, when all has been heard, is:
fear God and keep His commandments,
because this applies to every person.
For God will bring every act to judgment,
everything which is hidden,
whether it is good or evil.

Ecclesiastes 12:13,14

APPLICATION
:

  • What am I facing today that is difficult, and how can I apply Jeremiah 32:26-27?
  • Do I desire Elohim above all else, or is there something that I desire more?
  • Am I willing to have God replace my desire with His?
