Why Genesis?
Week 17

11 Truths of Divine Creation

5) God's Creation was a Free Act.

Consider the words of the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 1:11:
In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will.

We see in Revelation 3:11 these words:
Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they exist, and were created.

Consider this: The creation was not necessary to the essence of God.
(BD p. 214)

Another quote on the same topic states:
The creation is dependent on the sovereign decree of God, so the creation is not in itself a necessity for God to be God. But creation is a necessary result of the integration of all that God is (His perfections/essence).

God acted freely in creation!
