WEEKLY DEVOTIONALS – 2011
The Bible – Absolute Truth – Week 26

Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth and the life;
no one comes to the Father but through Me.
Do you not believe that I am in the Father,
and the Father is in Me?
The words that I say to you
I do not speak on My own initiative,
but the Father abiding in Me does His works.
Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me;
otherwise believe because of the works themselves.'

John 14:6, 10-11

"Just the facts please!"
In any trial, the facts, provable facts, are the final deciding point (or they should be).
Christianity is uniquely fact verifiable! The facts of Christianity are based on historical records and eyewitness accounts. One such person in history did reveal Himself to us. He made extraordinary claims. John 14:6: I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. He then states that He and the Father are in one another. He is God...then He states, otherwise believe because of the works themselves.
The proofs were all around them. Wow! Jesus tells them to look at the evidence of His ministry! "Examine it carefully," He tells them.

Thomas just wanted verification of the Resurrection of Jesus. Aren't you glad he did? Jesus verified His Resurrection, and we have witnesses to this verification.
Read John 20:30-31! The Gospels are filled with proofs.
Take a walking tour of Israel - proofs abound!
With this overwhelming evidence, comes FAITH.
Jesus tells Thomas and us...Blessed are those who have not seen yet believe!

Yes, there are religions where people die for their convictions.
BUT in reality, let's examine truth - Absolute Truth.
Those who die for a lie may claim God is on their side. They do acts of severe evil for their own benefit. One needs to ask, "Is this true of the One True God of the Bible?"
"Just the facts please!"

What Does the God of the Bible Say?
Love your enemies - Forgive those who harm you - Live quietly and do good.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER THIS WEEK
  • Am I living the Absolute Truth?
  • What lie am I in need of confessing?
  • Who can I share God’s amazing love with today?
