Week 23

"We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is. And everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure."   1 John 3:2b-3

What is it that we know? Let's do some cross-referencing. For those of you who have a cross-reference Bible utilize these nuggets to research more of what we are learning.

In Romans 8:29 Paul tells us: "For whom He foreknew He also did predestine to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the 1st born among many brethren." Jesus was 1st born from the grave and we will follow one day.

Now we see John talk about those of us who have this hope. This hope is not just a passing thought or worthless words. Indeed our hope is in the One who already rose from the grave and appeared before John and 100's of others. Jesus is the One our eyes should be on. He is the cleanser of our souls. He is the Purifier of all the living. He is the only Purifier.
Why? He is the perfect Lamb of God. He is the God Man who paid for our wickedness in His perfect body. He became sin for us.

Psalm 139:3-4 says it well. "You (the LORD) scrutinize my path and my lying down, and are intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, behold, O LORD, You know it all." And to think that He loves us anyway!J

It's no wonder we need the purifying of Jesus! Now the Father sees us through His Sons eyes. This is a comfort for me. It is a hope. It is a promise. What a future to be excited about!

John reminds us continually that Jesus is coming again. He charges us to be ready in the purity of His teaching and promises. Purifying is the hope of Jesus returning. It's a wonderful thought to continually ponder for the Christian.

QUESTIONS TO PONDER
What is your hope fixed upon?
Jesus is our Purifier. He is our only Hope. How can you keep pure in your walk today?
It's not easy. Walking in His strength and purity can be very refreshing. This can be done by Holy Spirit power. Chose to "abide" in HIM!

Trusting Him for every today!
