Women in Discipleship (sm)
Devotionals for 2005
Week 7

Blessings and peace to each of you in God our Savior,

Today has been an interesting day. The air is clear and cool and the wind is blowing. The weatherman reported gusts up to 35-40 mph. Now that is breezy. I've been to the beach also, and the waves were crashing in strongly with white caps. Wind and waves are two things found in nature that are very powerful. The verse for this week points to how much our God enjoys the sights and sounds of His creation.

Scripture to ponder: 1 Chronicles 16: 32-33 - "Let the sea roar, and all it contains; let the field exult, and all that is in it. Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the LORD; for He is coming to judge the earth."

How interesting to see that the sounds of nature actually "sing for joy" before the LORD. Our God does care about the weather and the workings of nature. He is the author of nature and holds everything in His power. This is comforting to me. After experiencing so many hurricanes in 2004, I can vouch for the awesome power of God. There are major disasters all over the world these days from volcanoes, to earthquakes, tidal waves, and snow storms ... God is still in charge. He is the one who is coming to judge the earth, maybe even soon.

As we reflect on this verse, I pray we will each recognize the wonder and power of God in nature and see how even nature sings for joy before the LORD.

What is happening in your life right now that is a storm? How is it affecting you? Are you ready to "sing for joy" in the journey? Remember that God is in control. You can trust Him.

I'm trusting the creator God in my life today. Will you?
Have a productive week.

Blessings and praise,
Sandra Davis and the Women in Discipleship team
